  3.     I would like to add to your article on the Racketeer
  4. Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (LAW, Aug. 21). Reform
  5. of RICO's civil provisions is supported not only by accountants
  6. and securities and commodities dealers but also by the American
  7. Civil Liberties Union, the AFL-CIO, bankers, manufacturers and
  8. thousands of other Americans who stand to be branded as
  9. "racketeers" because an artful lawyer can turn virtually any
  10. dispute into a RICO lawsuit. The Securities and Exchange
  11. Commission also supports reform of the RICO law. Congress is
  12. considering two bills to reform civil RICO. They should be
  13. enacted as quickly as possible to return RICO to its original
  14. purpose: the pursuit of real racketeers.
